The most recent addition to the Education Cubes Members Only Site are the Vowel & Consonant Digraph insert cards! A digraph is a combination of two letters that represent one sound. Common consonant digraphs include ch (church), ph (phone), sh (shoe), and th (them). Common vowel digraphs include ai (gain), ea (beach), oa (boat), and ue (blue).
There are four separate sets of digraph insert cards included:
- Vowel Digraphs
- Consonant Digraphs (all)
- Consonant Digraphs (Initial Sound)
- Consonant Digraphs (Final Sound)
Learning Idea: Decide which digraphs your child/student needs to practice. Insert the desired digraph insert cards into a cube to play a fun word game.
Play the game by rolling the cube and coming up with as many words as you can that use the digraph rolled. The person with the most words wins the round.
Continue the rounds until all digraphs inserted in the cube have been used. Change out the insert cards and continue playing the game.
You can access these insert cards, as well as many more, by joining the Education Cubes Members Only Site. Purchase photo blocks here.
Wondering what other insert cards are available? View a complete list of all the insert cards currently found on the Members Only Site.
Attention Members: You can find these insert cards on the “Phonics” link found on the “Language Arts” page.
